By combining our initial screening with transparent, real-world feedback from student-athletes, the NIL Agent Directory helps you make safer, smarter choices about who represents you.
Are these agents vetted by us?
Short answer: Yes — and no.
We do a basic, preliminary check on every agent listed in the NIL Agent Directory. That means we look up public information, verify obvious credentials, and screen for any major red flags before a profile goes live. But the true power of this directory is the voices of student-athletes themselves. The best way to know whether an agent is the right fit is to hear directly from the people who worked with them — the student-athletes and clients who rate and review their experiences.
What we do (our preliminary vetting)
Before an agent appears in the directory we typically:
Confirm the agent’s business name and contact info.
Search public records and online sources for licensing/registration where applicable.
Look for major public complaints, disciplinary actions, or legal issues.
Make sure the profile meets our basic listing standards (no spam, clear contact details).
Important: this initial check is not a full background investigation, a guarantee of future performance, or an endorsement. It’s a first pass to remove clear scammers or misleading listings — not a substitute for first-hand experience.
Why user reviews matter
Every agent’s profile includes ratings and written reviews from real student-athletes and clients. If an agent did a great job, they’ll get high ratings and positive feedback. If an agent let someone down, that will show up too. We believe the community’s collective experience is the most useful, up-to-date, and meaningful measure of an agent’s performance.
Ten things student-athletes should check — a quick checklist
Use this checklist when evaluating an NIL agent. If an agent isn’t doing most of these, consider looking for someone else.
Clear communication & responsiveness — Do they reply promptly? Do they keep you informed?
Transparent fees & contracts — Are commission rates, fees, and contract terms spelled out in writing?
Written contract that protects you — Is there a clear scope of work, termination clause, and payment schedule?
NIL / NCAA compliance knowledge — Do they understand eligibility rules and university policies?
Marketing & brand strategy — Do they have a plan to build your brand (social, content, sponsorships)?
Negotiation & deal results — Can they show actual deals, terms, or case studies they negotiated?
Relevant network & partner access — Do they have sponsor contacts, legal/tax advisors, or media connections?
Athlete education & support — Do they help you understand taxes, contracts, finances, and long-term strategy?
No conflicts of interest / full disclosure — Do they disclose other relationships that might affect your deals?
References & consistent track record — Can previous or current clients vouch for them? Do reviews match what they claim?
Red flags to watch for
Pressure to sign immediately without time to review the contract.
Vague or verbal-only promises about money or brand deals.
Refusal to provide references or written terms.
Promises that sound “too good to be true” (large sums with no clear plan).
Lack of any verifiable track record or public presence.
If an agent isn’t meeting these standards — what to do
Talk to the agent first. Ask for clarification, written examples of deals, and references.
Request a copy of the contract and have a parent, guardian, compliance officer, or an attorney review it.
Check our directory reviews — read what other student-athletes said about similar issues.
Report the issue on the agent’s profile so others are informed.
Consider changing agents if concerns aren’t addressed. Use our directory to compare alternatives and read reviews.
How to use this directory wisely
Read multiple reviews — one opinion rarely tells the full story.
Look at recent feedback; an agent’s approach can change over time.
Compare checklist items between agents, not just star ratings.
Ask for references and examples specific to what you want (brand deals, social growth, etc.).
Help shape the directory
Your experiences make this directory valuable. If you’ve worked with an agent, please leave an honest rating and review on their profile — it helps other student-athletes make better decisions.
